Can Stranco test pressure relief valves in the field?

Yes. Stranco can support field testing of pressure relief valves when the valve configuration and site conditions allow it. Valves with an appropriate test connection may be tested inline, and Stranco can also provide field testing support using mobile/portable test equipment. For valves that require removal, repair, disassembly, or full shop evaluation, Stranco can support shop or field service under its applicable NBBI VR and T/O scope.

NBBI VR authorization applies to the repair of pressure relief valves and allows an accredited repair organization to apply the VR symbol stamp within the limits of its certificate. NBBI T/O authorization applies to testing pressure relief valves, including confirming seat tightness and confirming or restoring nameplate set pressure or performance. T/O does not authorize disassembly or repair; those activities fall under the appropriate VR repair program.

Testing and inspection intervals should be established by the owner/user based on the valve service, operating history, process conditions, applicable jurisdictional requirements, and recognized inspection practices.
